Now available: New guidebook on Rapid Assessment of Wetland Ecosystem Services
At the 13th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention (COP13) held in October 2018, the Contracting Parties adopted Resolution XIII.17 on Rapidly assessing wetland ecosystem services, which describes the Rapid Assessment of Wetland Ecosystem Services (RAWES) as an example of a cost-effective and pragmatic approach to assessing the multiple benefits derived from wetlands. Following this, the Ramsar Regional Center – East Asia (RRC-EA) initiated the development of a guidebook on the RAWES approach that has been reviewed and endorsed by the Scientific and Technical Review Panel (STRP) of the Ramsar Convention. This guidebook describes the rationale behind the RAWES approach and provides assistance for practitioners in the application of the approach through a step-by-step process. The RAWES guidebook is now available for download at the RRC-EA website.
